“You can’t understand someone until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes”. A multi-perspective conversation across professional boundaries.
October 30, 2021, Conference on Migration and Media Awareness (CMMA), Hamburg
Since the arrival of hundreds of thousands of refugees in Germany in 2015, the public debate on flight and migration in Germany has intensified. Unfortunately, the various groups of actors involved are often insufficiently familiar with each other. Especially in times of the corona pandemic, informal, personal exchange often takes a back seat. Instead, thinking and acting in "silos" dominates - sometimes combined with mutual prejudices. With this intervention, the collaborative project "Forced Migration and Refugee Research: Networking and Knowledge Transfer" (FFVT) invites actors from research, politics, public administration, media and civil society to a dialogue in order to facilitate an exchange of experiences and knowledge. The aim of the event is to dissolve the above-mentioned "silos" and to enable personal acquaintances between the actors present at the CMMA.
